A long sting-bearing tail and a pair of pincers distinguishes the scorpion. They range in size from 2 cm to 12 cm long. Scorpions are mostly nocturnal, feeding on beetles, spiders and centipedes. An Australian arachnid, scorpions are related to spiders, ticks and mites.
